What inspired you to choose medicine? Helping others is something I enjoy. The teamwork of health care makes it an enjoyable profession.

Why did you choose your specialty? I like the hands-on aspect. We are literally getting people back on their feet.

What is your philosophy of care? The patient is No. 1. All the decisions that are made are in their best interest.

What do you like about Yakima? I like the outdoor opportunities that Yakima offers.

What do you like to do outside of work? I enjoy hiking. Hunting, fishing, golfing and other outdoor activities are also fun for me.

Betsy Kean, PA-C
Image Betsy Kean received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Central Washington University. She received her Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree and Physician Assistant certificate from Idaho State University in Pocatello, ID.

Betsy Kean is Board Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. She also currently holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in Psychiatry through the NCCPA, and has worked with the under served mental health population before joining ONW. She primarily assists Dr. John Adkison in his practice.

Tracy Keniston, PA-C
Image Tracy Keniston received her Bachelor of Science degree from Gonzaga University and her Master of Medical Science degree from Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ.

Tracy Keniston is Board Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. She primarily assists Dr. Robert Greene with his orthopedic practice, which includes general orthopedics with an emphasis on hip and knee replacement.

Luis Ortega, PA-C, R.T.(R)
Image Luis Ortega received his radiology technologist degree from Yakima Valley Community College and his physician assistant training at the University of Washington. He also has work experience as an X-ray and CT technologist, during which time he was exposed to numerous orthopedic conditions.

Luis Ortega is Board Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, and is a Registered Radiologic Technologist. He primarily assists Dr. John Hwang with his orthopedic practice. His goal is to provide Yakima Valley residents with appropriate, compassionate care.

Amy Pollock, PA-C, R.T. (R)
Image Amy Pollock received her radiology technologist (RT) degree from Yakima Valley Community College. After 12 years of working as an RT she pursued her dream of becoming a PA-C. She attended the University of Washington Medex Physician Assistant Program and obtained her Bachelor of Clinical Health Sciences degree.

Amy Pollock is Board Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. She also is a member of the Washington Academy of Physician Assistants. Amy primarily assists Dr. Gene Griffiths with his orthopedic practice.

Sam Richards, PA-C

What inspired you to choose medicine? I like knowing I can make a difference in people's lives and help them reach their health goals. I like that the field of medicine is constantly evolving and there is always something new to learn and improve on.

Why did you choose your specialty? I really enjoy learning about the musculoskeletal system and the different diseases and injuries that can occur. It is very fulfilling to recognize and treat these patients as it can have a real impact on their functionality and quality of life.

What is your philosophy of care? I want to do everything I can to help and be there for the patient and team. I think the best patient care happens in a strong collaborative environment.

What do you like about Yakima? I grew up in Yakima so it has always felt like home here. After spending some time living in the Seattle area and Kentucky for PA school, it feels great to be back.

Mike Shultis, PA-C
Image Michael Shultis, PA-C is a physician assistant specializing in general orthopedics, trauma with subspeciality of adult reconstruction (joint replacement). He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Wyoming, where he was also an academic All-Conference athlete (baseball). He obtained his Master's of Physician Asst. studies at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana (2008). In his leisure time, Mike enjoys travel, gardening and music.

Shane Sigler, PA-C
Image Shane Sigler attended Whittier College in southern California and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Puget Sound. He worked as a Certified Athletic Trainer at the high school, college, and professional sports levels. He then received his Bachelor of Clinical Health Sciences degree from the University of Washington Medex Physician Assistant program.

Shane Sigler is a Board-Certified Physician Assistant who works primarily with Dr. Thomas Kennedy in his orthopedic practice, treating conditions of both the knee and shoulder as well as general orthopedic conditions. He also is an active member of the White Pass Volunteer Ski Patrol.

Kevin Walkenhauer, PA-C
Image Kevin Walkenhauer received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Central Washington University. He earned a Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies from A.T. Still University in Mesa, AZ. He worked in physical therapy before doing his PA training.

Kevin Walkenhauer is Board Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. He primarily assists Dr. DeMill with his orthopedic practice.
